Marks Lumber is a Tier-One timber manufacturer, meaning we turn raw logs into finished lumber products.
At Marks Lumber, we believe teamwork is the key to successful partnerships. We work hard to provide open, honest communication and learn about your project’s deadlines.
At Marks Lumber, we love helping our customers build their dream homes. While we know building your custom home is an exciting endeavor, we also know how stressful the process can be.
The entry point for any materials entering the sawmill is the log yard. Here, logs are delivered, sorted, and cut to length to maximize the usage of the log. From there, logs are hauled to the loading deck to be debarked, prior to entering the mill.
Once the logs enter the sawmill, they are cut to the appropriate thickness, and the edges are trimmed to achieve the desired width. They are then trimmed to the best possible length and exit the mill as circle sawn lumber. Throughout the process, Marks' focuses on utilizing as much of the log as possible and collects any waste material to be repurposed later.
To ensure the highest quality end product, Marks utilizes a kiln to extract as much moisture out of the lumber as possible. This helps prevent future warping and splitting.
Once lumber has been thoroughly dried to measured specifications, products are hand-graded, and finish products are transferred to the planer. Flooring, siding, and tongue and groove products are all run through the planer to create the profile required for that specific product.
Products are sorted, stacked, and put together as orders for pickup, or stored for future orders. Orders are picked up on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Be sure to review our pick up schedule and policy.
At each phase of the process, waste material is collected for other uses. The larger wood material is sent to the chipper to be broken down into wood ships. Sawdust and bark are collected and placed in piles. This material is used in a variety of ways, including biofuel, landscape material, and even bedding for neighboring livestock.
