Douglas Fir Circle-Sawn Flooring

Grown and milled in Montana, Marks Lumber’s Douglas fir circle-sawn flooring captures the rugged, natural beauty of its home state.

Our circle-sawn wood flooring is authentically produced using a unique circle saw head rig rather than retextured from a smooth product. This rough texture provides excellent shadow and color variation, reducing the visibility of minor scratches and making it the best wood flooring for families and dog lovers.

With its distinct look, circle-sawn flooring is perfect for interior design styles such as mountain modern, rustic farmhouse, industrial, and more.

Description

Marks Lumber's circle-sawn wood flooring is made from Douglas fir, one of the strongest softwoods available. With proper installation and maintenance, our Montana Douglas fir flooring is a durable and long-lasting option. The authentic circle saw marks also help hide the dings and scratches that inevitably come with everyday wear and tear.

Our beautiful circle-sawn flooring starts in the forest. We sustainably source only the highest quality Douglas fir logs to ensure a striking and durable end product. From there, we dry, grade, plane, and end-match our wood flooring on-site at our mill in Montana to ensure quality.

Our circle-sawn flooring options are customizable to your project:

  • Choose between end-matched or center-matched tongue and groove wood flooring depending on your needs and budget.
  • Flooring arrives unfinished, allowing you to customize your floors with your choice of stain and finish.

Our flooring is manufactured to order just for you at our specialty mill in Montana, creating a unique, high-quality product every time. Each end-matched board is a true random length, giving your flooring a handcrafted look that sets it apart from machine-made competitors.

Craftsmanship takes time. Our average lead time for end-matched circle-sawn flooring orders is approximately 4-5 weeks.

Estimating and Purchasing Wood Flooring

Determine how much flooring you’ll need for your project so we can give you the most accurate quote possible.

Measure your space accurately. List out each room you want to purchase flooring for and calculate your square footage for each. You can subtract out any permanent fixtures that won’t need flooring underneath, such as kitchen counters, or you can leave them in and use them as part of your waste factor.

Budget for waste. We recommend adding about 5-10% to your final order as a buffer to account for waste or mistakes in installation to ensure you will have enough for your project.

FAQs About Circle-Sawn Flooring

Douglas fir is one of the most durable softwoods available, making it the builder’s choice for many different applications. While wood flooring is more delicate than engineered flooring options, the texture of circle-sawn flooring offers a slight camouflage from the dings and scratches that inevitably come with everyday wear and tear.

Our flooring should be nailed into place.

Choosing a stain can be one of the most difficult decisions you make when it comes to wood flooring. Our flooring comes unfinished, giving you the freedom to choose from a wide array of options that fit your unique style. While we do not sell stains at Marks Lumber, we can provide you with suggestions. We recommend using the Old Master’s brand, oil-based stain.

Because you will sand, seal, and finish your floors during the installation process, the end product will feel smooth. With circle-sawn flooring, you get both the comfort of smooth wood floors and a unique, rustic appeal that adds character and beauty to any space.
